Cadoudal road

Vacations in Morbihan are an opportunity to enjoy some magnificent walks and hikes. During your stay at camping Saint-Laurent, discover the most beautiful landscapes and sites in Brittany! Discover one of the Ria d’Étel’s most legendary circuits: the Cadoudal trail. The promise of a refreshingly different ride through a variety of landscapes. A walk between land and sea, accessible to all!

Why “chemin de Cadoudal”?

An excursion along the chemin de Cadoudal is an opportunity to delve into the history of the Chouans and the French Revolution. The trail is named after Georges Cadoudal, a Chouan general, royalist and counter-revolutionary, known for his many feats of arms against the Republicans. Perfect for combining nature walks with historical discoveries, the chemin de Cadoudal is also home to the “cache de Cadoudal”: a cavity between large ashlars in which the Chouans of the Auray region, led by Georges Cadoudal, could lie in ambush. Take a family hike! The discovery of the hiding place is always a popular moment for children on the Cadoudal circuit.

The circuit between land and sea

The Chemin de Cadoudal is an accessible trail, just 3 km long, which starts in Locoal-Mendon, on the La Forest peninsula opposite the Pointe de Ninezur. The circuit makes a loop between land and sea, revealing the unique landscapes of the Ria d’Étel. Between a path lined with ancient low walls, a wooded trail and a coastal path, the walk promises a variety of landscapes. You’ll come across some remarkable trees, before the tides reveal beaches and oyster beds. After passing the beautiful pointe de Beg er Lanneg, we return to our starting point at the edge of the wood. The entire circuit requires little effort and is suitable for young children. However, some parts of the route are not accessible to baby carriages. Allow around 50 minutes for the walk.

How to get to the Chemin de Cadoudal from the campsite

An essential part of your camping vacation in Morbihan, the Cadoudal trail is an opportunity to follow in the footsteps of the Chouans of the Auray region. Between the freshness of the forest and the view of the Étel river, the route crosses several points of interest in the Locoal-Mendon area. From the Saint-Laurent campsite, it’s a 15-minute drive. Follow the D22 towards Belz for just under 2 km, then turn right to join the D16 towards Kerrio. Then turn left towards Penhoët then Locoal. In the village, follow the signs for the La Forest peninsula. A parking lot is provided at the edge of the forest at the start of the hiking trail. You can also cycle to the start of the Chemin de Cadoudal tour, which takes just 35 minutes on small country roads!
